The City of Westminster

Dive Site: City of Westminster

Location: 50°1.33N; 5°40.33W (Runnel Stone, Cornwall)

Description: 6094 ton steamship

Length: 143 metres (470 feet)

Depth: 20 - 35 metres (65 - 115 feet)

Visibility: 5 - 15 metres (15 - 50 feet)

The City of Westminster is a large steam ship which hit Runnell Stone, off the coast of Lands End in October 1923 en route from Belfast to Rotterdam. It is now sitting in a fantastic setting of granite pinnacles and deep sandy gullies.

There are still large parts of this huge vessel intact and there are still some good swimthroughs where you will find some large ballan wrasse, conger eels, bass and ling.

The City of Westminster normally has a good 10 metres visibility but should only be dived by the more experienced diver as the currents can run quite strong.
