The Moldavia

Dive Site: The Moldavia

Location: 50°23.13N; 00°28.72W

Description: 9505 ton P&O Liner

Length: 160 metres (525 feet)

Depth: 28 metres to top of wreck (92 feet), 45 metres to seabed (150 feet)

Visibility: 20 metres (65 feet)

The Moldavia is a 160 metre long ex P&O liner which was transformed into an armed cruiser in 1915 then torpedoed in 1918. It lays at an angle on the seabed at 45 metres but the top sections can be reached at around 28 metres.

The visability on this huge wreck can be a cracking 20 metres and you will find plenty of cod, conger eel, ling and wrasse. There are also many good swimthroughs.

Being at such a depth, The Moldavia is a dive only for the experienced diver due to the careful dive planning. The down side of this wreck is that it is a 20 mile journey out from Brighton…….. Definitely worth it though!
