Vivian Quarry is a small, sheltered dive
site located at the bottom of the Snowdonia
mountain railway, in the beautiful town
of Llanberris.
Vivian has a maximum depth of around 20
metres but has few shallow areas for Open
Water course training. Temperature in the
summer reaches 17 degrees, falling to 5
degrees in the winter.
Despite being quite a small dive site,
Vivian has quite a few under water attractions
including an old motor cruiser, many old
quarry buildings, a few dumped cars and
the mandatory Gnome Garden. There’s
not much fish life in here though, just
a few eels.
Vivian Quarry is a relatively easy site
to dive and is suitable for the new-ish
diver but just be aware that the location
of this dive site is near to altitude so
the appropriate dive planning precautions
should be taken.
At the entrance to the dive site you will
find a small shop offering 232 bar air
fills.
