Vobster Quay is a 36 acre lake situated
in Somerset, about half hours drive from
Bristol. The depth ranges from 6m down
to 36m which makes it ideal for the novice
diver and the more experienced diver alike.
There are many underwater attractions to
search for including a 42ft motor cruiser,
a wreck of a large aircraft, many old quarry
buildings and a tunnel going from 14m down
to 20m, not for the faint hearted!
The temperature can be as low as 4 degrees
in the winter months and rises to a ‘tropical’ 18
degrees in the height of summer. Like most
inland dive sites the water visibility
is better during the winter as there are
less divers about and you don’t get
any algae bloom.
There is now a large community of rainbow
trout living in Vobster Quay and they tend
to congregate around the entry and exit
points where they usually find an easy
meal handed out by the divers.
Vobster Quay has some good out of water
facilities with air to 300 bar and nitrox
fills readily available. There is also
a catering van serving up burgers and bacon
butties for you pre and post dive nourishment. |
