About The
Farne Islands
The Farne Islands are located just below the Scottish order on the east side
of England and are known as one of the best locations in the UK to dive with
seals. The visibility here is usually around 10 –15 meters and you can
experience some fantastic interaction with these inquisitive creatures. Just
mind your fin tips…. they may be nibbled!!!
Dive Trip
Details
We will be leaving Stansted at 12 noon on 17th September and plan to arrive
in Seahouses at 5.30pm which gives us plenty of time to chill out and chat
about the next 2 days diving over a hearty dinner and cool beer! The following
morning after breakfast we will make our way to the harbour. This is where
we meet our skipper (Andrew) and load our dive boat up. Andrew is a very experienced
skipper and will take us out to the best places for seal encounters. When diving
with the seals it is best to stay as still as you can. This way the seals feel
safer in your presence and will come closer to play!
After a couple of dives with these
inquisitive creatures we make our
way back to the harbour where we
unload our equipment and take our
cylinders for air fills, ready for
the next day. We spend the evening
in Seahouses again where we go for
a meal at a local restaurant and
sample the local brew.
The next morning it’s back
to the harbour to load the boat up
for another 2 exciting seal dives.
After another days diving we head
back to our accommodation where they
have rinsing facilities to wash our
kit before heading back home that
evening.
N.B. Bring your cameras as you will
have face to face encounters with
seals! You will also need 2 cylinders
for the boat dive as the boat doesn’t
return to shore between dives.
