About Plymouth
There are hundreds of wrecks scattered around the South West coast of England
with many of them laying around the shores of Plymouth. Amonst these are
the James Eagan Layne, The Scylla and The Rose Hill. They all have then own
special features and all lay in the divable 20 - 35m range.
We will be diving from The Maid
Maggie 2, a purpose built diving
boat which is licensed to carry 12
divers and has a divers lift fitted.
The skipper of the boat is Glyn Lindsay,
an experienced skipper with a depth
of knowledge of the local area.
Our accommodation "The Mount
Batten Hotel" is situated only
a few minutes from the harbour and
is ideally placed for diving trips.
It is quite a lively hotel and offers
a fantastic menu for lunches and
dinner.
Dive Trip
Details
We need to leave Stansted at Midday on Monday 19th June to arrive in Plymouth
in time for our evening meal. We can then chill out for the evening and discuss
the following days diving over a pint or two!
The following morning we make our
way to the harbour with our dive
kit and load the boat up. We have
a choice of what wrecks to dive so
we can all discuss this the night
before. Most common wrecks are the
Scylla and the James Eagan Layne.
After two dives the boat will come
back to shore and we will all need
to get air fills at the local dive
centre. These are priced at about £2.50
per fill. After we get our fills
we can either spend the night at
our hotel or venture into the city
centre and visit a few bars etc.
The following day it's another two
dives before we head home in the
evening.
N.B. You will need 2 cylinders for
this trip as the boat does not return
to shore between dives.
