About St Abbs
The rugged shoreline of St Abbs is situated about 10 miles into Scotland on
the east coast and is home to some of the greatest diversity of marine life
found around the British Isles. The water here is generally very clear and
there are some fantastic kelp forests and rocky canyons to investigate. Remember
to take some fish food down on your dives, as there are some friendly Ballan
Wrasse who will feed from your hands. When not in the water there is a local
tearoom that serves cream teas and lunches.
Dive Trip
Details
An early start is required for this trip. We leave at 3a.m. on the Tuesday the 12th from Stansted to get to St Abbs for around 8.30am. After breakfast we
meet our skipper (Billy), load our kit onto his boat and have our first boat
dive in the morning to a local wreck or pinnacle. We then return back to the
harbour for lunch and air fills.
After lunch we then load the boat
back up and it’s off for our
second dive of the day, maybe a pinnacle
or another wreck. We then return
to shore to get air fills and spend
the night at a local pub or restaurant.
The next day after a hearty breakfast
we take the boat out to another wreck
or pinnacle site in the morning,
then in the afternoon do another
boat dive to the infamous ‘Cathedral
Rock’ (one of the best dives
in the UK) before returning back
to shore to rinse our kit. We then
begin our journey home at around
4.30p.m hoping to get back to Stansted
at around 9pm.
