2DiVE4’s Steve Hills is joining forces with world record breaking diver Leigh Cunningham in running a Technical Diving ‘Safari’ in September this year.
Leigh Cunningham currently holds the world depth record on a wreck (207m), and has asked Steve to put together a team of 6 technical divers to join his 6 divers in September on what will be a dive trip to remember.
Steve dived with Leigh for a week in the Red Sea last year and he knows the place like the back of his hand. The itinerary will take in many wrecks and amazing reefs down to depths of 100m. The sites we will be diving will allow shallower depths so this trip will be aimed at divers with deep air certification or trimix.
Itinerary:
The dive itinerary will not be set in stone and is subject to change based on a group decision to dive a different site.
Our plan is to make 4 days of boat diving in Sharm plus two shore diving days in Dahab.
Returning back to Sharm on the morning of the final day in time for your flight back in the afternoon/evening.
All days will include one formal decompression dive in the morning followed by a shallow NDL or limited deco dive in the afternoon. All Trimix divers wishing to make repetitive dives must bring a VR3 or Nitec He to track residual loading from the morning dive.
Cost per day will be 120 euros including boat fees, tanks/gas, twin 12L or 15L manifold and one or two 10L stages. Helium is extra, 5 euro cents per liter, and Ras Mohamed park fees, 5 euros per day in the national park.
Additional supplements are 40 euros on top per person for the Rosalie Moller day. Plus 25 euros per SGL room and 40 euros per DBL room per night for the planned two nights in Dahab. The daily cost includes transportation to and from Dahab and to and from the dive sites once in Dahab.
The two proposed wreck dives for the week are the Rosalie Moller (43M) in the Straits of Gubal and the wreck of the Lara (75) at the back of Jackson Reef in the straits of Tiran. Both wreck dives are subject to weather conditions, good to moderate conditions we will dive the wrecks. If wind and sea conditions are howling we may not be able to dive either wrecks.
Day 1) Ras Mohamed, Eel Garden Canyon, Ras Burg (Devils Finger) or Shark Reef, ER, 55 metres.
A site in Ras Mo of the group’s choice for the afternoon dive.
Day 2) Tiran, the wreck of the Lara weather permitting, 55-60 metre ER, 60-80 metre mix.
Or Thomas Canyon 50-60 meter ER, 60-95 metre mix.
Jackson coral garden in the afternoon.
Day 3) The Rosalie Moller weather permitting, 40-50 metre ER dive.
Optional 2nd dive over the deck of the wreck 30 metres or a dive in Ras Mo on the way back.
Day 4) Ras Mohamed or Tiran based on a group decision, if we dived the Lara on day two, I would recommend Thomas Canyon, Tiran.
Day 5) Dahab Canyon, 50-60 metre ER or 60-80 metre mix (Neptune’s Chair).
The Canyon coral garden in the afternoon.
Day 6) Dahab Blue Hole (Arch) 55-60 metre ER or 60-100 metre (bottom of the Blue Hole).
Bells to Blue Hole in the afternoon.
2DiVE4 will be organising flight and accommodation packages for the stay in Sharm. Packages are priced at £559 which includes return flights, transfers and accommodation at the fantastic Naama Bay Hotel.
The date of this trip is to be the first week in September with exact dates still to be finalised.
If you are interested but not yet qualified as a technical diver then you can book your TDI courses at 2DiVE4 during the Spring / Summer which will allow you to gain some experience before travelling.
