About The
SETT
The SETT (Submarine Escape Training Tank) was constructed in the 1940’s at Fort Blockhouse in Gosport, formerly known as HMS Dolphin.
The tank reaches a depth of nearly 30 metres and makes an ideal environment for deep dive orientations in a safe environment. The water temperature is a sweltering 34 degrees so only the thinnest of wetsuits is needed, if any!
The SETT Details
The session will start at 9am on the Saturday morning and will finish at 12 noon. This time will consist of form filling, a safety briefing, kitting up, 25 minute ‘dive’ and de kitting.
Feel free to bring your underwater cameras as this will be a memorable experience, even for the most hardened diver.
Please remember that like a regular
dive, this dive does carry a risk
of DCS although it is minimal due
to the controlled environment. Please
report any abnormal symptoms immediately.
Please note that The Sett is located on Royal Navy grounds so we will all need to arrive together as one group to sign in.
On leaving The SETT
we will stop for lunch before heading home.
This should be a fun & unusual
day out – far better than
being stuck in front of the TV watching Grandstand!
