Thursday 11th March - 6.30pm - 7.45pm
£30 - Per Person (pre-booked at 2DiVE4 on 01279 815559)
Ever faced diving to 40 meters without getting wet, or even seeing water for that matter. 2DIVE4 is offering the chance to have a try in one of the largest hyperbaric chambers, at one of the UK's leading diving hospitals. You will meet leading doctors for a quick briefing before entering into the "pot" as we are pressurised to around 40 meters. Bring your dive computer along as this counts as a logged dive. This trip is suitable for both divers and non-divers alike. Places are limited to only 10, cost is £30
The London Diving Chamber is a Recompression Chamber situated in St Johns Wood, London. As well as Dry Diving, they also offer a full range of services to Divers including Recompression for those who have or believe they have DCI, diving medicals, fitness tests and assessments. The chamber can also be used for the PADI Chamber Awareness Course.
We will meet at the Shop in Stansted & will travel as a group aiming to get to the LDC by 6.30pm. On arrival, each Diver will sign a waiver form and fill in a self-declaration medical. These are standard and you must have a Dive Doctor clearance form if you answer yes to any of the usual PADI medical statement questions.
We will then enter the chamber with a member of staff. The chamber can go to a depth of 40 metres so Nitrogen Narcosis can be expected! After staying at the maximum depth for an agreed time we will be surfaced slowly, deco stopping as required. You may take Dive Computers & other equipment into the chamber. You are advised to wear non-static, light cotton clothing as it can get hot inside.
Please remember that like a regular dive, a dry dive does carry a risk of DCS although it is minimal due to the controlled environment. Please report any abnormal symptoms immediately.
After our Dry Dive the LDC will sign & stamp log books.
On leaving the London Diving Chamber we will stop for a bite to eat & a couple of drinks before heading home. This should be a fun & unusual evening out – far better than being stuck in front of the TV!
