2DiVE4 have scheduled this amazing Maldives trip for November 2012. This will be our third time to the Maldives and we have really pushed the boat out this time by hiring out the luxurious Carpe Diem Liveaboard for 7 nights. Manta Rays can be seen all year round here and because of the time of year, we are very likely to encounter Whale Sharks, the biggest fish in the ocean! You will come away with some unbelievable memories and some amazing photographs of what is truly a trip of a lifetime!
For those of you who want to extend your trip by a week there is the option of an extra 7 days 5* all inclusive luxury on the Northern Atoll Kurumba.
Kurumba is set on a tropical island in the North Male Atoll, conveniently located a brief 10-minute speedboat ride away from the airport and Male, the Maldivian Capital. Dotted with coconut trees that are the island's namesake, Kurumba was the first private island resort in The Maldives. Lush tropical gardens, white sandy beaches, and a vibrant House Reef are the hallmarks of this classic Maldivian resort.
This stunning group of atolls is host to an underwater paradise brimming with marine wildlife. Located south west of Sri Lanka in the warm, tropical waters of the Indian Ocean, the Maldives are made up of over 1200 tiny, low-lying coral islands surrounded by white sand. The abundance of marine life in the Maldives can be attributed to the ideal growing conditions the waters provide for coral reef. These coral reefs are home to more than 700 species of fish, many of which are sadly endangered. In the lagoons you can find whale sharks, turtles, octopus, manta rays and the giant Napoleon Wrasse to name just a few.
The Maldives is tropical all year round and water temperatures range from 27°C to 29°C. There is no minimum number of dives required by local law and all diving is done from 'dhonis' to ensure accurate entry and exits points.
Divers have the opportunity to see a huge range of beautiful hard and soft corals as well as the famous manta rays, whale sharks, sharks, turtles, barracudas, jacks and tuna.
Built in 2008, M/V Carpe Diem is a 35m luxury liveaboard with separate fully equipped diving dhoni. Cabins and facilities are spread over four decks and so with a maximum capacity of 20 guests, there is ample space to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the Indian Ocean.
M/V Carpe Diem provides the perfect platform from which to explore the Northern Atolls
