Expedition Itinerary

Arrival Day

You must arrive at least one day prior to the boat departure date.

The evening before boat departure, an Undersea Hunter representative will message you to confirm your pickup time the next day. The evening is at your leisure.

Day 1

The following day, generally between 8 AM and 1 PM you will be picked up from your hotel and transferred by bus to Puntarenas where you will board the vessel. The drive takes about 2 1/2 hours and gives you a chance to view the lush forest and rich farmland of the region.

Due to occasional low tides the boat may need to depart from the pier earlier in the day. Should this occur, you will be transferred by skiff to the vessel. When all passengers have arrived on board, the vessel you will take a 32–36-hour cruise out to Cocos Island.

Day 2

A travel day. There will be time to arrange dive and camera gear as well as enjoy the Pacific and the sunshine. There are videos and the experience of the Captain and crew to help you get excited for the diving…as if you need them. In addition, you may want to take this time to take one of the diving courses.

Days 3 – 9

Spent diving the pinnacles around the perimeter of Cocos Island. Divers usually average three dives per day at depths of 60-100 feet (18-30 metres) or more. This, of course, is what the whole trip is about.

Day 10

Make the last 3 dives before the cruise back to Costa Rica and reality!

Day 11

All day to discuss the diving and to compare your adventures!

Day 12

Arrival to Puntarenas. Immediately after breakfast you will be transported back to San Jose.

Divers usually average 3 dives per day at depths of about 18-30 metres.

Typical day at the island:

  • 7 am – breakfast buffet
  • 8 am – first dive
  • 9:30 am – snack
  • 11 am – second dive
  • 1 pm – lunch
  • 2:30/3pm – third dive
  • 4 pm – snack
  • 7 pm – dinner
  • 8 pm – evening activity/special presentation

Sea Hunter

After hundreds of diving expeditions, the Sea Hunter has evolved into the consummate hybrid of luxury and utility. This 35mtr cruiser boasts a global reach and was specifically conceived for long-range journeys to remote destinations like Cocos Island.

The spacious craft has everything a serious diver or photographer could ask for. Individual gear lockers, private camera/strobe storage bins with 110 & 220 ac power, dual camera rinse tanks and even a drone take off/landing pad.

Ten comfortable staterooms accommodate every amenity with plenty of room for up to 20 passengers, including ensuite controllable air conditioning, hot water showers, daily housekeeping, and complimentary laundry service. Ample public spaces include an indoor lounge and study plus an expansive sundeck for relaxing in between dives.

A well-equipped galley enables our chefs to prepare delicious, healthy, and varied cuisine for all dietary preferences – using only the freshest, sustainably sourced ingredients. With three scheduled meals per day and snacks in between, there are ample opportunities to refuel.

Sea Hunter’s brilliantly engineered design is complemented by a seasoned crew of ten, who give it their all to ensure that every voyage is a trip of a lifetime. Together they have introduced adventure divers, professional photographers, and cinematographers to an unparalleled level of service.
